SA's health emergency | Critical connections lost at Gauteng hospitals

JOHANNESBURG - It may prove rather difficult to get hold of anyone at Gauteng hospitals.

The DA says phones in several facilities are not working due to unpaid bills.

The party's Gauteng MPL Jack Bloom says this is a dereliction of duty.

"I put out a public statement yesterday. Now the Gauteng Health Department admits that no fewer than 32 hospitals and 82 clinics have non-functional telephones because they haven't paid the bills," Bloom said.

"It's just unbelievable to think that one can't get hold of hospitals."
