South Africa welcomes ICJ decision

PRETORIA - The South African government has welcomed the decision by the  International Court of Justice stating that it is a significant milestone for the people of Palestine.

The ICJ ruled that South Africa has a  prima facie case of genocide against Israel.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says they're deeply concerned about the continuing loss of life, and human rights abuse taking place in the Gaza Strip.

Ramaphosa has welcomed the ICJ's decision, calling on Israel to ensure the physical and mental safety of Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reacted to the order by the ICJ.

Netanyahu maintains that that Israel has a right to defend itself and denying it that, would be discrimination against the state.
