CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says it spent nearly a R1bn in a year maintaining electricity infrastructure, to ensure that residents have power despite Eskom’s rolling blackouts.
It’s denying that it recently increased tariffs unfairly by 17.6%, when the energy regulator approved over 15%.
Over a thousand people are expected to march against the tariff hikes next weekend.
