'We don't use taxpayers money for our existence' - March and March

JOHANNESBURG - Anti-immigration movement March and March leaders have slammed claims that the government is funding the movement.

They maintain that their organisation relies on donations and private funding.

The organisation is among the groups planning demonstrations on 30 June, calling on undocumented migrants to leave South Africa.

March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma maintains that the anti-immigration group is not a government entity.

"We don't use taxpayers' money for our existence. Everything that we have to do here requires us to put in our own money. And if South Africans are donating to us, why is it a problem because we can't do anything for ourselves?"

Ngobese-Zuma went on to criticise the government's decision to allocate R600 million to beef up security ahead of planned anti-migrant protests.

She said officials must shoulder the blame for the country's migration crisis.

Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has maintained that police are ready to keep the country safe on 30 June and that there will be no room for criminal activity.
