Cataract surgery | A chance to look at the world with new eyes

CAPE TOWN - Since 2023, more than 240 000 South Africans have been waiting for cataract surgery. 

In the Eastern Cape, the queue stretches past 11,000 because of a cocktail of ageing, high costs, scarce resources, and tricky logistics.

Non-profit organisation, Enter Grace Vision has performed over 3,000 sight-restoring surgeries since 2012. 

This week, two children from Mqanduli village in the Eastern Cape embarked on an epic trek, thousands of kilometres to Cape Town, all for a chance to see the world anew.
