JOHANNESBURG - Umkhonto Wesizwe Party’s Deputy President, John Hlophe had a tough day in court on Monday.
READ: Hlophe's JSC appointment ruled "unconstitutional and invalid"
The Western Cape High Court has ruled that his appointment to the Judicial Service Commission by the National Assembly was unconstitutional and invalid.
This comes just weeks after the Constitutional Court dismissed an attempt by the MK Party and Hlophe to overturn an interdict barring him from the JSC.
That interdict followed a case brought by the DA, Corruption Watch, and Freedom Under Law — citing Hlophe’s impeachment as a judge.
DA national spokesperson Karabo Khakhau commented on this on eNCA.
