This incident comes on the heels of another troubling case where a primary school pupil was raped by an older pupil during a school singing competition.

According to Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, they are working to address the problems of children in schools and are unable to have teachers who continue to use corporal punishment, which has long been prohibited.
