JOHANNESBURG - As a not-for-profit funding crisis continues to unfold, the Gauteng Crisis Committee marched to the offices of the Social Development Department on Friday.
Many NPOs rely on government subsidies to survive and help people like the indigent, the elderly, abandoned children and the disabled.

The new financial year began in April.
But last year the Gauteng Department of Social Development changed the process to determine subsidies and funding decisions were still not finalized by then – leaving many organisations unable to plan.
Recently NPOs who were found to be eligible for subsidie complained they were still not paid.
