Discussion | Tiger brands agrees to settle some claims

WHITE RIVER - Tiger Brands says its offering settlements to specific people affected by the outbreak of listeriosis linked to its products.

There are 218 people, including a number of children died in the outbreak after eating contaminated viennas and polony from the company's Polokwane factory.

The settlement of the class action is subject to certain conditions, with Tiger Brands saying payouts are not an admission of liability.

Although the Listeriosis Class Action Attorneys think otherwise.

Richard Spoor, a public interest lawyer who represents many claimants, said they are working with the Department of Health to contact people who were affected by the listeriosis outbreak.
