CAPE TOWN - Cape Flats communities say they are at their wits’ end as gang violence continues to claim lives, despite years of intervention efforts.

Several initiatives, including the formation of a specialised anti-gang unit, have done little to curb the bloodshed. In just the past week, at least seven people have been killed in ongoing gang turf wars.

The Mitchells Plain Crime Busters are calling for an urgent meeting with Western Cape police leadership to craft a new, localised strategy to address the crisis.
