Motorists fear for their safety after recall of certain VW cars

JOHANNESBURG - Motorists fear for their safety after the recent recall of certain Volkswagen Polo Vivo models. 

The recall affects models sold between February 2025 and February 2026. 

Volkswagen has alerted owners to bring their cars in for inspection and the necessary repairs.

According to 2025/26 data, a number of major vehicle manufacturers issued recalls in South Africa due to safety concerns. 

Some of the reasons include airbag failures, battery issues, brake problems and seatbelt defects. 

The recent recalling of Volkswagen Polo Vivo models' cars has brought renewed safety fears. 

Motor industry staff association Phakamile Hlubi-Majola this is important to ensure safety of passengers and consumers.
