JOHANNESBURG - Over R2-billion looted through fraudulent procurement deals at the Tembisa Hospital.
This is just one of the damning findings contained in the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) interim report, into corruption and maladministration at the hospital.
The investigation, which began after whistleblower Babita Deokaran flagged irregularities in 2022, has uncovered three major syndicates involving officials and suppliers.
Key staff at Tembisa and Gauteng Health are accused of collusion, money laundering, and receiving illicit payments.
According to the SIU head Advocate Andy Mothibi, says their probe reveals an amount of 122 million rand, paid to corrupt officials in Gauteng Health.
