JOHANNESBURG - Water and Sanitation Minister Mchunu says the cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal last year points to playing political games.

Mchunu says former mayor of Tshwane, Randall Williams prevented the national government from intervening and taking over the running of the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant.

At the same time, Mchunu has repeated calls to investigate vandalism and sabotage of water infrastructure in the eThekwini municipality.

Mchunu says several scenarios may be at play behind the water shortages in parts of Durban.
