JOHANNESBURG - The Thungela mining company has launched a multi-million-rand fish-breeding facility as part of the rehabilitation of waters around the Loskop Dam in Mpumalanga.

The Wilge and Olifants Rivers were contaminated by the uncontrolled release of acidic water from a nearby mine in 2022.
The aim of the Thungela investment is to speed up the recovery of the fish population and restore biodiversity.
