Western Cape Fires | Arson, sabotage suspected amid 2,500 blazes

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has attended to over 2,000 fires since December.

Questions are being raised as to whether the unprecedented vegetation fires as well as fires close to city infrastructure have been set deliberately.

SANParks has also recorded unusually high levels of wildfires within the Table Mountain National Park which stretches from Signal Hill to Simon’s Town.

Enviro Wildfire Services has been called in to investigate and establish the likelihood of arson.

On Saturday, firefighters dealt with 284 blazes.
