JOHANNESBURG - The government must use the same energy they are using on Monday's national shutdown - to deal with crime.
That's the view of criminologist professor Kholofelo Rakubu.

She says the resources devoted to the shutdown on such short notice demonstrate that the government is capable.
More than 3,000 soldiers will be deployed at a cost of more than R166m.
Rakubu adds such action is required to deal with gangsterism and GBV, among other things.
At the same time, 87 protesters have been arrested in the past 15 hours for public-violence-related offences.
They are said to have been participating in the National Shutdown.
The arrests have been made by the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure.
