JOHANNESBURG - There is little understanding about how coalition governments work.
In addition, this is true even for leaders of political parties.
That is according to the Institute of Election Management Services.

It says there needs to be more effective education about it.
"There is a need for us to begin to educate the electorate and the political parties about what actually happens and then how they should actually deal with the issues of the coalition," says Terry Tselane from the Institute.
"It's a situation that was experienced in Johannesburg and other metropolitan areas," he adds.
