Discussion | Massive electricity tariff hike despite blackouts

JOHANNESBURG - Chief Economist at Econometrix Dr Azar Jammine says the massive electricity increases are sustaining inflation at a much higher level.

Embattled power utility Eskom is expected implement over 12% tariff hike for its direct customers for the 2024/25 financial year.

This follows approval by the National Energy Regulator allowing Eskom to hike prices, for the next three years.
