The Madlanga Commission has turned to alleged KZN police hit squads, with IPID deputy director Len John describing claims of extrajudicial killings by task-team members. John says IPID investigated more than 300 cases involving the unit between April 2023 and May 2026.
The case against Soweto church leader Tshepo Ntsimane, accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, is heading to the Johannesburg High Court. He remains in custody and is due back in court next week.
City Power says unpaid contractors and a shortage of parts are slowing repairs as cold, wet weather drives outages across Johannesburg. The utility had 6,000 logged calls by Wednesday morning after demand doubled overnight.
Regan Collis now faces nine charges after allegedly killing four people, including two police officers, in Reiger Park. His bail application is set for 25 August and the State plans to oppose it.
