DURBAN - A grieving KwaZulu-Natal family is still waiting for answers months after their loved one was killed in a confrontation involving an eThekwini Municipality water tanker.
Celani Zungu (38) was run over by the tanker in Adams Mission, south of Durban.
It is alleged that the municipal worker had delivered water to one household, angering residents who then confronted him.

Zungu’s family says they have received little to no information about the progress of the investigations.
His brother, Sakhile Zungu, says they are struggling to come to terms with his death while waiting for answers from both the municipality and police.
The family says they last saw municipal officials at Celani’s funeral and have not received a substantive update since.
The eThekwini Municipality says its internal investigation is still underway and has urged the family to be patient.

The municipality says water supply challenges in Adams Mission are linked to a combination of factors, including demand exceeding available supply and illegal connections.
It says interim measures, including the deployment of water tankers, remain in place.
But for the Zungu family, the focus is now on accountability.
They want to know what happened, whether anyone will be held responsible and when the investigations will be concluded.
