CAPE TOWN - The inquest into the death of Anele Tembe is set to resume at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on 19 October, with more witnesses expected to testify about the events surrounding her fatal fall in 2021.
The first block of evidence has shed new light on the hours after Tembe fell from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town.
Three witnesses have so far testified, including the hotel’s general manager.

He told the inquiry that Tembe and rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ room was left in disarray following the incident.
The manager also testified that he intervened to stop an alcohol order for tequila shooters placed by members of Forbes’ entourage shortly after the fall.
He described the request as insensitive given what had happened.

The court also heard that Forbes was insistent on giving a statement to police while the events were still fresh in his mind.
An independent hotel guest, who was staying on the floor above the couple, told the inquiry he did not see what happened before Tembe’s fall.
He said he was alerted by a loud noise and, when he looked over his balcony, saw Forbes holding onto the railing and appearing visibly distressed.

The inquest is expected to hear from between 20 and 30 witnesses as it continues.
Forbes’ father, Tony Forbes, has declined to continue giving evidence.
The inquiry is expected to return to court in October as it continues examining the circumstances surrounding Tembe’s death.
