JOHANNESBURG - Cabinet has officially approved the complete write-off all outstanding and unpaid e-toll debt.
The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) will stop pursuing the collections of fees charged before the system was turned off in 2024.

Those who were paying, however, will not be refunded.
The government says this is because they were lawful levies at the time they were paid.
Cabinet says it remains committed to the user-pay principle.
However, it must be broadly accepted through negotiations and agreement.
