‘It’s like a witch hunt, I want to see my husband’ – Adams' wife speaks out

DURBAN - Fadiel Adams' wife is pleading to see her husband.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed Adams' safe arrival in KZN after being in transit for over 30 hours.

She said Adams would not be kept at Westville Police Station due to security reasons. Additionally, his location will also not be disclosed.

Mathe assured the media that Adams' lawyers and family had been notified of this.

However, Adams' wife denied knowing her husband's whereabouts.

“I am really just disappointed because I just want to see my husband. Is that too much to ask? He's a South African citizen. We have rights, all of us. This is ridiculous.

“It's like a witch hunt. I am exhausted. I just want to see him if he's okay, so that I can just go sleep and put the children at ease as well, because he is a family man.”

Mathe said Adams was safe and in a healthy state, but his wife said she could not take their word.

“I am the spouse. I would like to see for myself. I don't need a middle person to tell me that my husband is okay. This is wrong, on every level, it is just wrong. He's a member of Parliament to be treated like this,” she said.

The National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader arrived in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday night, where he was formally charged with fraud and defeating and or obstructing the course of justice.

He was arrested on Tuesday by the SAPS Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) at the Pelican Park Parliamentary Village in Cape Town.

It is alleged that he interfered with ongoing investigations into the murder of the late ANC Youth League Leader, Sindiso Magaqa.
