Lillian Ngoyi Street to reopen to traffic amid concerns

JOHANNESBURG - It may have taken years, but Lilian Ngoyi Street will finally reopen to traffic this Friday.

Commuters will now have a few more options or routes to travel in and around the Johannesburg CBD.

The street was damaged in an underground gas explosion in July 2023.

Mayor Dada Morero declared that R82-million has been spent to fix the road, and the Democratic Alliance is demanding an inquiry into the funds used for this project.

There are also concerns being raised about the quality of the repairs.

eNCA's Theo Mashele explained the progress made on the road and the reopening.
