MK Party suspends chief whip Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi

JOHANNESBURG - The MK party has suspended its Chief Whip, Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi, with immediate effect.

Mokoena-Zondi will also be subjected to an internal party investigation into allegations of corruption.

She was arrested last week and then released on R30,000 bail.

Mokoena-Zondi was charged with fraud for allegedly recruiting researchers to the party under false pretenses.

The MK Party has announced that Philasande Mkhize was appointed as Chief Whip.

The party also placed on record that Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla holds no official position or responsibility within the party.

It said her role was limited to that of an ordinary party member and she did not exercise any authority on behalf of the party.
