JOHANNESBURG - The National Director of Public Prosecutions Andy Mothibi has appointed a panel, to review the case against Fannie Masemola and other senior SAPS officers.
They have been charged in connection with the controversial R228-million Medicare24 tender.
Masemola faces a charge of contravening the Public Finance Management Act while others face corruption charges.
The case has been postponed to 29 September.
The review panel comprises approximately seven senior members of the NPA and members of the Special Investigating Unit.
Addressing the court on Friday, State advocate Santhos Manilall said the review process has already begun.
“I cannot give you a date when they will be complete with the assessment of this matter. They understand the urgency of this matter. In fact, they know that this matter is before court this morning,” Manilall said.
He said the report will be handed to Mothibi before the next court date.
“I will place their findings on record and deal with the matter appropriately there onwards. I assure your worship that the case assessment team, their review of this matter will not affect the smooth running of this case,” Manilall told the court.
