Jobs emergency | Residents march over promised jobs

Community leader Reggie Smith says the company has a responsibility towards the community, and not to labour from other parts of the country.

DURBAN - Communities in the south of Durban are holding a local refinery to its promise of jobs.

The communities say the Engen refinery is sitting on numerous CVs of skilled and semi-skilled worlers who live nearby.

Young and old gathered outside the refinery to deliver a memorandum of demands.

Engen accepted the memorandum from residents. And, according to leaders, the company has promised further engagements with community representatives on the 21st of April.
