Poverty in SA | Eastern Cape villagers losing hope

CWEBINI VILLAGE - Living in squalor and forced to fend for themselves.

That's how residents from a village in Port St Johns in the Eastern Cape describe their living conditions.

The municipality says it's trying to help, but also have to attend to the needs of 134 other villages.

The Gift of the Givers has now reached out to communities as they are not getting support from government.

The Port St Johns Local Municipality says it has also managed to provide support for many families from the villages.   

Residents, however, say they want to see much more being done to improve their living conditions.
