Power cuts escalated to Stage 4

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has ramped rolling blackouts back up to stage 4.

The power utility says stage 4 will continue until 5AM on Wednesday morning.

Then the power cuts will be downgraded to stage 3 and at 2PM on Wednesday stage 4 will resume.

This pattern will be repeated until the power utility regains lost generating capacity.

Eskom says the delay in returning generating units to service at Kendal and Tutuka are contributing to the reduced capacity.

There is also increased demand.
