World Cup co-hosts Canada were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Ireland on Friday despite dominating their final warm-up friendly before the tournament kicks off next week.

The winger succeeds his Brazilian teammate Raphina, who won the award in 2025.

A total of $250 million is reserved for compensation for players at the finals.

The hosts were well placed at 126-2 in their second innings but slumped to 127-6 before Jamie Smith steadied the ship with an unbeaten 31.
