2024 Elections | Electoral Court dismisses five cases

JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has scored a major victory in its battle with several entities.

The Electoral Court has dismissed an application lodged by Operation Dudula, Arise South Africa, the Cape Independence Party, Defenders of the People and the Independent South Africa National Civic Organisation.

They lodged complaints relating to non-compliance with the requirements for candidate nomination.

The Court says the reasons for their orders will follow shortly.

The IEC says this decision has cleared the path for the Commission to begin with the mammoth task of printing ballot papers for the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.

The elections will take place on the 29th of May 2024.
