'God of yesterday is still God of today' - Sibanyoni keeps faith after being granted bail

JOHANNESBURG - Leaning on faith and quoting God, Mpumalanga Taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni remained confident after he and his co-accused were granted bail.

The bail has been set at R70,000 for all four accused.

"God of yesterday is still the God of today. The God that we forever pray to is the God that we always go with. He's a strong one. Here we are now today with the same God," he said.

Sibanyoni, Bafana Sindane, Mvimbi Masilela, and Philemon Msiza appeared before the Delmas Magistrate's Court on Thursday after their extortion and money laundering case was re-enrolled.

The matter was struck off the roll by the Kwaggafontein Magistrate's Court after the prosecutor failed to show up in court after allegedly receiving death threats.

Asked whether he was innocent, Sibanyoni once again leaned on faith.

On Wednesday, Sibanyoni and his three co-accused, including Sindane, filed an urgent application asking the court to set aside the J50 warrants of arrest.

Speaking to eNCA, the accused lawyer Shaun Abrahams said he is yet to go back to his clients for an engagement.

"My instructions are that we'll have a discussion after this matter. The issue was to get them bail," Abrahams said.

The accused will be back in court on 1 September.
