IFP wants national debate on death penalty

DURBAN - The IFP wants a national debate on reinstatement of the death penalty to deter violent crimes.

This is one of many election promises made at the party’s manifesto launch in Durban on Sunday.

The party is contesting its first elections since the death of its founding leader, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

It will campaign under the banner, Do it for Shenge.

Party president Velenkosini Hlabisa outlined a 13-point manifesto touching on issues including crime, power cuts, education and health, as he calls for the electorate to vote for change.
