JOHANNESBURG - Floyd Shivambu, the former secretary-general of the MK Party, has launched a new political party.
He founded the Afrika Mayibuye Movement after conducting a consultative process to determine if South Africa needed another political party.
The launch follows Shivambu's presentation of the Afrika Mayibuye Restoration Manifesto to the extended National Consultation Team (NCT) meeting of the movement.
Shivambu fell out with the MK party and was fired from his top position in June.
He was removed following an Easter trip to Malawi, where he attended a church service led by fugitive preacher Shepherd Bushiri.
Shivambu joined the MK Party in August last year, moving from the EFF, where he was the party's deputy president.
