Zoleka Mandela dies at age 43

JOHANNESBURG - The Mandela family has confirmed the death of Zoleka Mandela.

The author and activist died in hospital Monday night.

The granddaughter of late former President Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikezela-Mandela was admitted to hospital last Monday.

She was being treated for metastatic cancer affecting multiple parts of her body. Zoleka died on the eve of her grandmother's birthday surrounded by loved ones and friends.
