JOHANNESBURG - South Africa has nailed its colours to the mast as it issues a demarche to Israel's ambassador to SA.

South Africa has criticised Ambassador Eliav Belotsercovsky over public comments he made.

A statement from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, did not specify what they were about.

Earlier this week, SA recalled its diplomats from Israel.

They said this was to assess its relationship with the country.

This as civilian casualties rise in Israel's war with the Palestinian militant group
Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
