WATCH | Analysis | SA faces 17% water deficit in 2030

JOHANNESBURBG - Experts are warning that South Africa is headed for a 17% water deficit by 2030.

Ailing infrastructure is at the centre of the country's water problems.

The country has about 824 treatment works but half of them are out of commission.

As government explores ways to address the crisis, the private sector is willing to step in with innovative solutions. Siemens recently released a report title: 'Pictures of Transformation'.

Part of the report focuses on the measures needed to achieve sustainability in the water and sanitation industry by 2040.

Sabine Dall'Omo, Siemens Sub-Saharan Africa CEO explains.
