The Weather Service has issued warnings of severe cold fronts across the country this week.

This year's first major cold front has struck the Western Cape bringing windy, rainy and cold weather along with it.

Fast-moving floodwaters rose Wednesday in eastern Australia, inundating homes and leaving residents stranded on their roofs overnight, as authorities warned more rain was expected in coming days.

The weather service is forecasting a cold snap.
