Another update expected post Sassa debacle

JOHANNESBURG - Government is expected to give another update on the status of social grant debacle on Thursday

It insists all beneficiaries have been paid, however, however, some recipients say they are still waiting for their money with less than 2 weeks before the end of the month.

Beneficiaries encountered difficulties accessing their grants, due to a technical glitch at Postbank.

Days after the system failure, Postbank axed its board of directors. It followed a forensic investigation that found it maintained contracts with suppliers unlawfully.

Meanwhile, the DA has taken Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu and Sassa to the Human Rights Commission, saying failure to pay beneficiaries is a violation of human rights.
