Eskom reduces blackouts to Stage 4

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has announced a mixed bag of blackout stages for the week.

Power cuts will be downgraded from Stage 6 to Stage 4 from midday until 5am Monday morning.

Stage 3 will then kick in until 4pm and thereafter Stage 4 will return.

That pattern will be repeated until Thursday.

Eskom escalated rolling power cuts to Stage 6on Friday.

It blamed this on a shortage of generation capacity and emergency reserves.
