Umhlathuze municipality | Residents call for water

Umhlathuze resident Zanele Mhlongo says her community's been waiting hours every day for water and things are getting worse.

UMHLATHUZE - Our taps are dry, that’s the cry from Umhlathuze resident Zanele Mhlongo.

She says her community's been waiting hours every day for water and things are getting worse.

Umhlathuze Mayor Xolani Ngwezi addressed service delivery issues at a media briefing on Saturday.

Mhlongo said, "we’ve had water issues for years and for as long as I can remember. The water will usually come to our taps early in the morning and it will not come out around 8/9 so we wait the whole day for the water to come back in the afternoon at around 6/7."

"But as of late, its been worse, nothing comes out of our tap, no drop of water. Some of the houses do have water, I think maybe the pressure of the water isn’t able to supply everybody around the area but where I stay, there isn’t a drop of water from morning till night so we are really struggling.”
