Hawks arrest prison warders for alleged 'hook-ups'
JOHANNESBURG - Two prison warders could end up behind bars themselves after allegedly engaging in 'hook-ups' with inmates.
A Warrant Officer and Sergeant were arrested at the Goodwood Correctional Centre by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption investigation team.
The suspects, aged 53 and 45 were reportedly providing privileges to inmates in return for hook-ups and they face corruption charges.
Their arrest emanates from information received about suspected warders, who were receiving money from inmates in January this year.
The warders are expected to appear at the Goodwood Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
