WATCH: Unpacking 2024 election court cases

JOHANNESBURG - The MK Party and the IEC are preparing to slug it out in the highest court in the land on Friday.

A lower court found the IEC was incorrect when it barred former president, Jacob Zuma, from running as a candidate in this month’s elections – due to his criminal record.

But the IEC is appealing that decision, saying it wants clarity on it’s powers.

On Wednesday, three political parties appeared in the Constitutional Court to appeal the ruling of the Electoral Court in its refusal to extend the deadline for parties to submit their candidate lists.

Former vice-chairperson of the IEC and the Executive Chairman of the Institute of Election Management Services in Africa, Terry Tselane unpacks all these election cases.
