Water & Sanitation Dept to upskill officials in key positions

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Water and Sanitation is working to improve the skills of officials in key positions.

The skills are aimed at ensuring that officials can find better ways to approach challenges like extended power outages.

Minister Senzo Mchunu made these revelations on the second day of the ANC NEC meeting in Boksburg.

"In the whole of Gauteng, starting from September last year, our intervention was on improving water management skills of various water service authorities including Johannesburg Municipality entity called Johannesburg Water to say that we need skills to be improved," he said.

Several areas in Gauteng have been without water for weeks.
