Workers’ Day | Cosatu calls on society to fight unemployment

JOHANNESBURG - Cosatu is calling on society to help reduce unemployment in the country.

It says Workers' Day is an opportunity to reflect on progress made by labour movements.

But, the federation says it's also time for people to stand up against corruption.

Cosatu also says it will use its rallies around the country to mobilise workers to vote for the ANC.

It's a chance to reflect on the struggles of the workers and those people who've lost lives in the workers' struggle," said Cosatu's Matthew Parks.

"It's a chance to celebrate many victories, a progressive constitution and very good labour relations laws.

But it's also a chance to say, we can't be satisfied with a 41 percent unemployment rate. Much more needs to be done to reduce poverty and inequality."
